It's good to join a fan club because you will get the celebrity pics you have always dreamed of and you can also receive daily news. There is the advantage of similar company as well because your interests will be shared by all those who have already joined the fan club. So this is actually a brilliant move because you will gain access to a celebrity gallery with a lot of celebrity pics and a lot of people who share your passion. Also you will be one of the first people to know if your favorite star will visit a near by town. You will be able to get tickets at your favorite star's concerts, in case if he's a singer, before they all get sold. If you're mad about some star and you need to see his or her face every day, then a celebrity gallery with the latest celebrity pics is the best idea ever. You can store the celebrity gallery on your computer to look at it until you feel you had enough. You can also put your favorite celebrity pics on your mobile phone or on your desktop to have their faces near you at all times.

There is a whole industry created around celebrity pics. The mobile phone companies have made a fortune from selling celebrity pics for people's phones. A downloadable celebrity gallery is not so cheap. You'll end up paying around ten dollars or maybe even more for a small celebrity gallery, but hey! What wouldn't you do if you're the "biggest" fan and you positively must have their latest celebrity gallery on your phone?

If you want to find the latest celebrity gallery you have to do some hard work. To find the latest gallery means it must contain the newest celebrity pics out there and this isn't so easy. Some people make an honest living from celebrity pics. They follow famous persons around and take their photos in the most awkward moments and then sell them for big bucks. So it is really difficult to get the latest celebrity gallery for free. Some people, they are called collectors, actually spend a lot of money for some pictures of a celebrity and especially for different items that over the years belonged to the stars. This isn't a very healthy habit, but you can't judge a person's personal pleasures.

If you are looking for the latest celebrity gallery just as a hobby because you enjoy admiring photos of your favorite celebrity and you enjoy reading about his or her life, then good for you! A hobby that relaxes you in those few spare moments of the day is most welcomed. But if you are a collector and must have something new everyday, you have to know there are some limits. It is not worth loosing your life and personality while trying to live other people's lives. Our existence is too short and wonderful to waste it trying to imitate someone.

I like the floating feeling you get on quarterpipes, it feels like you're hanging in the air and you can with no trouble grab anywhere on the board. One of the most fun tricks on a QP is the air to fakie.

Airs to fakies are also one of the easiest tricks. All you have to do is ride straight at the QP on your shred stick. I like this trick because of its simplicity. An air to fakie is basically the same thing as straight airing a jump, except the QP shoots you straight up in the air ... so you land in the same spot you took off. All you have to do is ride straight at the QP.

When approaching a QP, pick a straight line up the wall and stay totally flat-based while riding up the transition. If you get on edge, you may go flinging left or right-you won't go as big. Always keep your knees bent.

When you reach the top of the lip, you don't need to pop much, keep your body solid and let the QP do all the work for you. Remember: Like hips and wallrides, start out small to feel out the transition, then you can "send it." So, now you've left the lip, try to stay composed. Fly up in the air and grab the board. I like to grab frontside.

You're floating and tweaked-out frontside now, look down at the coping to make sure you'll land back in the transition. As long as the QP has vert on it, you should be fine. If so, then you're good to go-if not, well, good luck, 'cause landing on the deck of a QP is sketchy. Anyway, as you come back down to land, you should land in about the same place you left the lip-nice and high on the transition.

Ride back down the tranny switch and pump back up the hill as far as possible. You'll have less of a hike to hit the quarterpipe next time. Once you learn this trick, then you can move on to frontside and backside airs.

Boxes are a great feature to learn boardslides, front boards, and 270-outs on because they're super easy to shred. Boxes are nice and wide compared to a handrail, so you don't need to worry if you're not perfectly centered on the box. For a boardslide, hop on the box at a 90-degree angle and stay centered over the board, flat-based, until you reach the end of the box-it's too easy. So instead, I'm going to walk you through the boardslide to 270 out.

Approaching a box is pretty mellow; you don't need to hit it from a crazy angle or anything. Just stay calm and loose, and roll up on it. It is good to pop off your toes on the takeoff and land in more of a tailslide, instead of landing totally square in the middle of the box-it makes snapping the 270 out easier. Now that you're sliding, stay over the board so it doesn't spit out in front of you. Hold the position with your knees bent.

As you near the end of the box, begin to rotate your head and shoulders in the frontside direction. Spring an ollie off your back foot and initiate the frontside spin-use your shoulders to direct the rotation. The front 270 feels just like a frontside three, but it's easier to land. If you keep your eyes on the ground and bend your knees with the board pointed straight down the hill, you shouldn't have a problem with the landing.

Now that you have learned several common tricks, feel free to go out and try them. If you fail, remember, practice makes perfect and even more practise makes you even more perfect, or at least that is what I have been told. Go out their and try your best, and you are sure to get the results that you are after. Good Luck!

How does it work? Record a track. Upload it. Then invite others to add drums, bass, vocals or anything else. So in short, you work as a virtual band with artists spread across the globe.All these collaborations are filed under Creative Commons licensing models, so in short you may not end up with a mn$ cheque, but yeah – you may end up with right partners and band members!
My major concern with Kompoz is the sustainability of these virtual bands. How easy/difficult is it? Any testimonials? I would love to know that

A personal favorite, AmieStreet has all the right reasons for serious bands to participate! Apart from reasons mentioned above, the most significant part is that you can make real money out of your music!

How does it work? All songs start free and, as they are bought [for as low as 50 cents], the prices keep increasing. So in short, the more popular your music is, the more money you make [you get 70% of the sales].
Amie Street also holds tours/events and can be a boon for music groups to market their music.

iJigg
iJigg is the musical version of Digg. Artists can post their music and listeners can ‘Jigg’ [i.e. vote] the music. One of my major concerns with iJigg is that there needs to be more than Digg’ like feature. Looks like iJigg is still in the initial phase, so keeping them in this list for future tracking.

SellaBand
These guys will sell your band, only if you know how to sell your music. The underlying theme of SellaBand is very simple. Everybody wants to make money – musical bands as well as the audience!

How does this work?
How does this work? The musical band needs to garner atleast 5000 fans [and each fan has to shell off $10, which means $50,000]. Now that your fans really believe in you, they will also promote your music in community sites like MySpace etc, and thus starts a viral marketing campaign.
Once you have $50K, SellaBand will open doors to dedicated experts [in recording as well as production], and you will also have access to fine studios. And all these will be paid out of your 50K earning.At the very face of it, this whole approach looks too capitalistic [VC kind], but honestly, if your music doesn’t have 5,000 believers/fans worldwide, you are probably not worth serious investment! Period.
This seems a practical approach to filter out the non-serious groups from the serious ones.

Radioverve

RadioVeRVe is an internet radio station which focuses on promoting Indian Independent/Indie music. Though it isn’t structured and doesn’t have the same scale as the ones mentioned above, the only reason why it gets a mention here is because of the market it addresses, i.e. the Indian rock music market – a neglected yet very talented market which is in a desperate need for a service like this.

To summarize, if you are a college rock band and still looking for partners, Kompoz works best for you. But for a serious player, hop on to AmieStreet and SellaBand.

Wondering whether such initiatives can ever produce another Pink Floyds? Hmm..the lunatic is in my head!

There are more than one way to make a clickable link (hyperlink). One way is to write a HTML tag yourself in the EDIT HTML mode. When you do this, you will have a choice of making the link open in the same window or in a new window


Making a hyperlink open in the same window
To write a hyperlink which open in the same window, the HTML tag is of the form Description Replace Description with a description of the target site. That description is referred to as an Anchor text and is important if you are linking to other part of your own site as this Anchor text will let the search engines know what that post is all about and will make it easier for people searching for topics contained in that post. It is also what people will see in your site. For example this HTML tag Blogger Tips and Tricks will be seen as Blogger Tips and Tricks.

The "Description" is what people call the anchor text and to read about the importance of anchor text, go to Importance of anchor text in hyperlinks. In shout, don't ever put the anchor text (Description) as "here" if possible.

URL is short for Uniform Resource Locator, and is the "address" of the site you want to link to. It can be copied from the address bar at the top of the page. If you are not familiar with URL, refer to What is URL and how to get it


Making a hyperlink open in a new window
To make a link open in a new window, you will have to write the HTML in this form: Anchor Text or Anchor Text

If you want to make a link to another part of the web or to another post in your blog, and you don't want to mess with HTML, the easiest is to use the LINK icon in the post editor tool bar. For example, to link to Natural Remedies, first highlight the text as shown in the screenshot above, then click the LINK tool. A pop-up box will appear for you to enter the url of the target site. If you don't even want to type the url, you can go to the target site, copy from the address bar and paste into the pop-up box, then click OK. This will be best done with a browser with tabbed browsing like FireFox. Then you can be in the post editor page of Blogger in one tab and the site you want to link to in another tab, all in the same window, and you can easily go from one tab to another by clicking on the tab which will give information about what is in that tab.

The link HTML tag will automatically be written for you. The link will open in the same window, and you will not have the choice of making the link open in a new window. You also will not have what they call a tool tip which appear when you hover your mouse over the link and which will give information about the site you are linking to. Refer to the relevant section if you want that.

To make the link you made using the link icon open in a new window, change to EDIT HTML mode if you are in the compose mode, look for the HTML for the link you made, and add the target="_blank" or target="new" attribute to link HTML, for example,

Note that these ways of making links open in new windows has been deprecated but will still be supported for quite some time. There are people using Javascript to get around this, but Javascript are not allowed in Blogger post and if I have time, I will try to find out how this can be done.


Make tool tip appear for hyperlinks
Some people like to give even more information about a link beyond what is given in the anchor text, and for that, you can add a title="" attribute. Then when a visitor hover his mouse over the link, a tool tip will appear which will give whatever extra information you want to give to the visitor. For example, this link HTML

Will display the link Dummies Guide to Google Blogger. Try hovering your mouse over the link and observe (looks like there is a limit of how much information you can put in the title attribute because in Firefox 2.0, the information I put in was truncated in the tool tip. I checked in different browsers and in Flock, it was also truncated, but in Internet Explorer 7 and Opera, the information was displayed in full. Thus if you are interested in how visitors using different browsers, it is a big advantage to have many browsers in your computer. There are lots of other advantages as well. See Why you should be using more than one browser). It does your computer no harm to have more than one browsers in your computer.

Your text is very well explained and leaves no doubts about the use. This is why when I have been trying to solve my problems by consulting your instructional blogs.

I have been using this myself the same way and with the expected results. However, something different happens with the links I put in my Blogger blog. Using target="_blank" when the target is a page belonging to Blogger, i.e. with a URL containing "blogspot.com" it never opens in another window or tab. I wonder why. Is there any reason? If so, what can be done to make it work as supposed.

Please have a look at this post: Testing a hyperlink for a blog reader where I tested using target="_blank" for a target site that is a blogspot.com site (this post). Try the link I put there and examine the HTML I used to make the link to see if it is the same as what you did.

This post was written for links in a post. It appears that you are referring to a list of links added by clicking on "Add a Page Element" in the Layout of the New Blogger and choosing "Link List"

If that is so, and you want to make those links thus created open in new windows, you will have to refer to Making links in Link List of the New Blogger open in new windows.

When you click on the link icon in the post editor window, you have only one option - enter the URL of target site. No other options.

I don't have a link tool on my post section? I am using safari on a Mac...is that why? Looking at your screen shot it shows that I don't have many tools beside a link upload link and spelling link,do you know the reason why? Is there anyway to link using HTML with out having the website address showing up just the company name/or friends name without the link tool? I am using the newblogger

Hi Anjuli,

I suggest you install FireFox which is cross-platform and should work with MAC. It is also one of 2 browsers recommended by Blogger. It is a much superior browser to IE6 and it is only now that Microsoft is trying to catch up with IE7. You can download and install FireFox with Google toolbar by clicking on the "Browse the web better with Firefox with Google toolbar" (or something like that) at the top of the right sidebar of any of my blogs. With the Google toolbar, there are even more advantages like being able to search a site content only with the built-in searchbox, do spellcheck for your posts, find PageRank of your blog or any other sites easily, etc.

Regarding displaying website address in a link, I think you are typing the HTML for a link in a wrong (and inferior) way. You are probably repeating the website address in the anchor text (what is displayed on the web in a link). Refer to How to make a clickable link. If you still don't understand, comment in that post.

Someone asked about the link underlined problem before and I have said I am no CSS expert but try to make sure

a:link {
color:$linkcolor;
text-decoration:none;
}

You have got "none" in
text-decoration:none;

But it seems it didn't work. You can try asking that question in the Google Blogger Help group where there are people more familiar with CSS.

Regarding making your header (I assume it is a picture) clickable, refer to Special fonts for your blog clickable title. The HTML for the clickable graphic title is towards the bottom of the post. You can adapt the instruction to do anything you want. The title link back to the blog home (main or index) page, but it can be to any site you want. If it is not clear, comment again.

My blog has this in the template (if you don't know how to get to the template editor, refer to Changing template for New Blogger and/or Backing up and changing New Blogger template. It is always wise to backup your template):

}

and the links are not underlined. However, I told someone about this and he said he had
text-decoration:none;
but still had the link underlined, so I am not sure if it will work for you.

Regarding making links in your post, you make it in the normal way.

Regarding the line below a link, it is done in the template in the CSS. You can't do it in the post editor. Whether you have that in your blog will depend on what template you are using. I have mentioned what I think is the way to try to get rid of the line under the link above, but as I mentioned, I suggested it to a blogger and he responded that he has
text-decoration:none;
in his template, but he still gets the line under his link. Perhaps you should go to Google Blogger Help group to get someone to help you.

You are not stupid because there is no way for you to link to a MS Word document, particularly if it is a file sitting in your computer. You can only upload the Word file to a file host, get the link, and link to that place where you can download the word document. However, there are alternatives. At first I thought that expandable post summary may do the trick, then realised, it will end up in different pages.

I suspect that is not a blog. For bloggers me who use blogspot.com have no access to the servers storing all the files to display our blogs nor the ability to upload files other than what is provided for in the Dashboard. I think it is not possible for us using blogspot.com. Unfortunately, I am a cheapskate who uses all free tools plus I have other reasons for using blogspot.com. See Why I never use custom domain. That also means I can't host my blog on a server to which I have access. It also means I can play around and test to see what is possible.

I suspect the site whose link you gave is not a blog and tried to view its page source and here it is:

Hi Heather,

A live (or clickable) link is a hyperlink you can click on and it takes you to another web page. For example, click on Enviromentally friendly presents to see what I got for my 59th birthday plus to see how "cruel" I can be.

When one say a link, I really don't know what they may be referring to as according to me, a link should always be live. Maybe the are calling a URL a link, like for example:

http://blogger-tricks.blogspot.com

You can't click on the URL (link?) above. If you want to go there, you will have to copy it and then paste it into the address bar of a web browser. Really, I don't know if I can call the above a link. To me, it is a URL, not a link. But that is me speaking.

Here's my question. I created a custom header for my blog and am hosting the image on a free web browser. I want to make my header image a clickable link to return to my blog homepage but cannot figure out how to add the HTML code in the correct place to make it work. I'm using a URL as my background image for my header so adding the a href= isn't working. Any ideas??

Regarding what you want, I think it is possible, but you got to keep chasing me as at the moment I have other things to do. I am afraid I "hardly used" Picasa Web Album and mostly get Blogger to host my photos. I put "hardly used" because I believe when you upload images to Blogger, they are hosted in Picasa Web Album. But I never go deeper into that.

I thought that this site for 'dummies' would really explain it fully; but once again the point gets missed, and no one gives enough information. I think that it is probably more fruitful if a true dummy turned pro answered all html questions because it seems as if there are always a lot of assumptions.

I cannot understand how to create a link outside of my website. I know how to do it there, as there is an html editor, but trying to put it on a foreign web page is impossible at the moment.
Surely someone can explain in great detail how to make a link clickable- how to make that html code become a word or words (in this case a url) in blue that people can click on to take them away from that site to another.
Both of the sites are mine incidentally, I just want to create a link from one to the other.

I make my link put it in Notepad, save it open it in a web browser and it just opens up and sits there looking at me in the same color it was before.

There is a step that is missing there that I do not know, I need something to convert it from its vegetative state into something alive and usuable
