Flaccid - Erect Gallery (Soft - Hard)
Page1234567891011121314

In the pages of this gallery we display photos in pairs that show the penis while it is flaccid (soft) and while it is erect (hard). A number of visitors have asked for this comparison. Some have written that they are more satisfied with the appearance of their erect length than with their flaccid appearance. One visitor said that, when soft, his penis just shrinks down to a very disappointing size.
Well, let's talk about the relationship of flaccid to erect size! First, you should know flaccid size probably has even greater variation than erect size! This possibility was recognized by Masters and Johnson in 1966. It was verified in a re-analysis of the Kinsey data published by Jamison and Gebhard in 1988. And the 1996 article by Wessells, Lue, and McAninch concludes that "Erectile increase in length demonstrated no predictable relationship with flaccid penile length." This means that they found that both short and long penises, when getting erect, gain about the same amount of absolute length. To me this seems to be another way of saying that, on average, shorter flaccid penises have a greater percentage of growth than do longer flaccid penises. In my opinion, the research is not absolutely conclusive on this point, but it certainly suggests that this phenomenon is likely to be real.
The slang terms "growers" and "showers" are not based on research but are popular culture words that come from the everyday experiences of men. These words imply that a grower is someone whose flaccid penis is not very large but grows quite a bit as it becomes erect. And a shower is someone whose penis shows a good bit of length when flaccid and gains proportionally less length as it becomes erect. The absolute amount each of these types gain may be equal -- but the effect is more dramatic for the grower because he started with less length. (We should acknowledge that for every general principle there are exceptions. In this case, the exceptions mean that there may be short flaccid penises that gain only slightly and long flaccid penises that gain quite a lot -- and everything inbetween.)
Please click here to send in your pairs of pictures for this gallery! Make sure the flaccid picture is of a completely soft state. As in the other galleries please keep the background plain and uncluttered. Also send age, height, weight, erect and flaccid length. (For further instructions click here.) It will be interesting to see how penises of different soft sizes look when they are erect - and whether or not we will have any examples that clearly illustrate the research findings or the popular culture concepts mentioned in the paragraphs above.

age 29, height 6 ft. 1 in., weight 200 lbs., flaccid length 3.5 in., erect length 5.75 in.
I have always been told that I had a large penis, but never thought that it was all that large. I always thought I was average, but I guess most of those comments came from my width (5.5 in. around). I hope you include the pics, I'm proud of my cock, not afraid to show it off. You have a great website. I hope I can help make it better. [submitted later] Ive seen one other cockring on your site, so I thought I would add mine too....it is a wonderful experience. My wife loves it, it maintains your prime-erection for much longer by gently restricting the flow of blood.

You and everyone who submits a picture helps make it better! I think visitors be interested in your comments on how much your wife loves your cockring.

age 43, height 6 ft. 1 in., weight 250 lbs., flaccid length 1.5 in., erect length 4.5 in
I have always felt that my penis was small especially flaccid, but I have always been able to satisfy all my sex partners, several have been interested and fascinated by the difference in flaccid and erect size.
THANK YOU for this excellent pair of pictures. It's good to see a soft penis that has no hint of the initial tumescence or swelling that comes before an erection. I think many visitors will benefit from seeing this pair of pictures.

age 38, height 5 ft. 8 in., weight 170 lbs, flaccid length 2.5 in., erect length 4.5 in.
My life since puberty has been based on hiding the size of my penis and believe me it has all but eliminated my participation in sports. For some reason most men seem to relate their conversations somehow into dick size! The length I can put up with, but the 4.5 in. circumference is discouraging.

I'm sorry the circumference bothers you. I hope you realize that the average circumference in the Wessells study (our best study) is only 12.30 cm. which converts to 4.84 inches. That's just .34 in., or 1/3 of an inch, fatter than yours - a very small difference. Your erection has other nice features such as the angle.

age 49, height 5 ft. 3 in., weight 152 lbs., flaccid length 2.5 in., erect length 4.5 in.
This flaccid penis is right out of the pants with only a quick side to side hip shake. The erect picture is the short version (I think) in that I had a bit of a time keeping the stiffness due to lack of motivated excitement. I am sure that I have measured slightly over 5 in. in the past...some may be due to weight gain and I think it gets bigger with the actual prospect of 'action'
Thanks for your contribution. I think I am going to begin calling this page the 4.5 club! I am really pleased to have visitors see how handsome and attractive these erections are that measure less than 5 inches.

age 34, height 6 ft. 4 in., weight 179 lbs., flaccid length 3.15 in., erect length 6.7 in.
I got inspired by your pictures and decided to find out how my penis would look in a photo. It bends down and to the left.
You've broken the string of 4.5" erections -- but that's OK because variation is what this site is all about. I think visitors will notice that your penis "shows" more of its length when you are flaccid.

age 32, height 5 ft. 10 in., weight 180 lbs., flaccid length 1.5 to 2 in., erect length 4 in.
Here are 2 pics that you can use that my wife shot. Definitely on the short end.
Not so definitely -- only 1 inch shorter than the average 5.07 inches in the Wessells study. Everyone should recognize that if the average is about 5 in., then that means that there are A LOT of penises that are shorter than the average.

age 36, height 5 ft. 10 in., weight 183 lbs., flaccid length 1 in., erect length 3.25 in.
As you can see from the pictures, I guess I'm what's called a grower. Percentage wise I grow a lot.
Yes, you more than triple in length. As far as I know, the only other penis on this site that triples in length is the second one on this page. It is far more common to approximately double in length. Thanks for your excellent and attractive pix.

"You'll figure that out soon enough after the deed." (poster by Henri Gerbault)
Flirting or coquetry is a social and sometimes sexual activity involving verbal or written communication as well as body language by one person to another, suggesting an interest in a deeper relationship with the other person. In most cultures, it is socially disapproved for a person to make explicitly sexual advances, but indirect or suggestive advances (i.e., flirting) may at times be considered acceptable. On the other hand, some people flirt playfully, for amusement. A female, especially a young one, who flirts playfully is sometimes called a coquette or in slang a cock tease; while a male flirt may be called a womanizer or player.
Flirting usually involves speaking and behaving in a way that suggests a mildly greater intimacy than the actual relationship between the parties would justify, though within the rules of social etiquette, which generally disapproves of a direct expression of sexual interest. This may be accomplished by communicating a sense of playfulness or irony. Double entendres, with one meaning more formally appropriate and another more suggestive, may be used. Body language can include flicking the hair, eye contact, brief touching, open stances, proximity etc. Verbal communication of interest can include the vocal tone, such as pace, volume, intonation. Challenges (teasing, questions, qualifying, feigned disinterest) serve to increase tension, test intention and congruity.
Flirting behaviour varies across cultures due to different modes of social etiquette such as how closely people should stand (proxemics), how long to hold eye contact, how much touching is appropriate and so forth. However, ethologist Irenäus Eibl-Eibesfeldt found that in places as different as Africa and North America, women exhibit similar flirting behavior: prolonged stare followed by a head tilt away with a little smile.[citation needed]

[edit] Human mating

In order to bond or to express sexual interest, people flirt. According to Kate Fox, there are two main types of flirting: flirting for fun and flirting with intent. Flirting for fun can take place between friends, co-workers, or total strangers that wish to get to know each other. This type of flirting does not intend to lead to sexual intercourse or romantic relationship, but increases the bonds between two people.
Flirting with intent plays a role in the mate-selection process. The person flirting will send out signals of sexual availability to another, and expects to see the interest returned in order to continue flirting. Flirting can involve non-verbal signs, such as an exchange of glances, hand-touching, hair-touching, or verbal signs, such as chatting up, flattering comments, and exchange of telephone numbers in order to initiate further contact.
Increasingly in the 21st century flirting is taking forms in instant messaging, and other social media. In 2011 Tagged conducted a summer-long survey based on "winks" by metro area, with the surprise leader being Pittsburgh.

[edit] Purpose

People flirt for a variety of reasons. Flirting can indicate an interest in a deeper personal relationship with another person. Some people flirt simply for amusement, with no intention of developing any further relationship. This type of flirting sometimes faces disapproval from others, either because it can be misinterpreted as more serious, or it may be viewed as cheating if either person is in a committed relationship with someone else. Some couples set up rules and boundaries for their partner so one will know what's accepted and what's not.

[edit] Etymology

The origin of the word flirt is obscure. The Oxford English Dictionary (first edition) associates it with such onomatopoeic words as flit and flick, emphasizing a lack of seriousness; on the other hand, it has been attributed to the old French conter fleurette, which means "to (try to) seduce" by the dropping of flower petals, that is, "to speak sweet nothings". While old-fashioned, this expression is still used in French, often mockingly, but the English gallicism to flirt has made its way and has now become an anglicism.

[edit] Cultural aspects

Flirting varies a great deal from culture to culture. For example, for many western cultures one very common flirting strategy includes eye contact. In these cultures, it is said that a look can say a million words. However, eye contact can have a very different meaning in some Asian countries. Men, however, may stare at Western women in such countries who might get in trouble if returning the glance. This act may mean that she is sexually interested instead of just flirting. Furthermore, Chinese and Japanese women are not expected to initiate eye contact which would be considered rude and disrespectful.[unreliable source?]
The Flirtation by Eugene de Blaas. A study of body language: a man flirting
The distance between two people is also important when flirting. People from the "contact cultures", such as the Mediterranean or Latin America, may feel comfortable with closer distances whereas a British or Northern European person will need more space. Touching, especially of the hand or arm, is also part of flirting.
During World War II, anthropologist Margaret Mead was working in Britain for the British Ministry of Information and later for the U.S. Office of War Information, delivering speeches and writing articles to help the American soldiers better understand the British civilians, and vice versa. She observed in the flirtations between the American soldiers and British women a pattern of misunderstandings regarding who is supposed to take which initiative. She wrote of the Americans, "The boy learns to make advances and rely upon the girl to repulse them whenever they are inappropriate to the state of feeling between the pair", as contrasted to the British, where "the girl is reared to depend upon a slight barrier of chilliness... which the boys learn to respect, and for the rest to rely upon the men to approach or advance, as warranted by the situation." This resulted, for example, in British women interpreting an American soldier's gregariousness as something more intimate or serious than he had intended.
Communications theorist Paul Watzlawick used this situation, where "both American soldiers and British girls accused one another of being sexually brash", as an example of differences in "punctuation" in interpersonal communications. He wrote that courtship in both cultures used approximately 30 steps from "first eye contact to the ultimate consummation", but that the sequence of the steps was different. For example, kissing might be an early step in the American pattern but a relatively intimate act in the English pattern.
Japanese courtesans had another form of flirting, emphasizing non-verbal relationships by hiding the lips and showing the eyes, as depicted in much Shunga art, the most popular print media at the time, until the late 19th century.
The fan was extensively used as a means of communication and therefore a way of flirting from the 16th century onwards in some European societies, especially England and Spain. A whole sign language was developed with the use of the fan, and even etiquette books and magazines were published. Charles Francis Badini created the Original Fanology or Ladies' Conversation Fan which was published by William Cock in London in 1797. The use of the fan was not limited to women, as men also carried fans and learned how to convey messages with them. For instance, placing the fan near your heart meant "I love you", while opening a fan wide meant "Wait for me".
In Spain, where the use of fans (called "abanicos") is still very popular today, ladies used them to communicate with suitors or prospective suitors without their family or chaperon finding out. This use was highly popular during the 19th and early 20th centuries.

[edit] Types of flirting

A study in body language: Haynes King's Jealousy and Flirtation
Flirting may consist of stylized gestures, language, body language, postures, and physiologic signs which act as cues to another person. Among these, at least in Western society, are:
  • Banter
  • Blowing a kiss
  • Casual touches; such as a woman gently touching a man's arm during conversation
  • Coyness, affectedly shy or modest, marked by cute, coquettish, or artful playfulness (e.g. pickup lines).
  • Eye contact, batting eyelashes, staring, winking, etc.
  • Flattery (regarding beauty, sexual attractiveness)
  • Footsie, a form of flirtation in which people use their feet to play with each other's feet.
This generally takes place under a table or in bed while rubbing feet. Participants often remove their shoes and play barefoot, but it can also be played while wearing socks or shoes. However, this method can backfire, as the general opinion of feet can depend on the culture and society of the area.
  • Giggling, or laughing encouragingly at any slight hint of intimacy in the other's behavior
  • Imitating of behaviors (e.g. taking a drink when the other person takes a drink, changing posture as the other does, etc.)
  • Maintaining very short distance during casual talking.
  • Online chat, texting, and other one-on-one and direct messaging services while hinting affection
  • Protean signals, such as touching one's hair
  • Sending notes, poems, or small gifts
  • Singing specially selected love songs in presence of the girl/boy.
  • Smiling suggestively
  • Staging of "chance" encounters
  • Teasing
  • Tickling
  • Eyebrow raising
The effectiveness of these several interactions has been subjected to detailed analysis by behavioral psychologists, and advice on their use is available from dating coaches.
