1. Dogs do not understand English until we teach them.

The thing we all love about puppies the most is the way they live for us, the way they focus all they have on us, the way our lives become theirs. in the beginning, they study us to learn our body language, our facial expressions and our language. Until we teach them the English language, it's all they have. If we say, "Wanna go out?" one day, "Have to go potty?" the next day, and, "Hafta pee?" the third day, if they DO figure out what we want, it is because we have picked up the leash and moved toward the door with a happy face! If you want to speed up his training by three-fold, teach him YOUR language. Pick a command for EACH behavior and stick with it. Tell all in your family to use the same words and commands, and your puppy will amaze you at how much faster he learns.

2. A young puppy's metabolism is racing along faster than we think.

The younger your puppy is, the faster he is growing, the more food and water he needs to fuel his metabolism, and the more often he has to go potty. Do not punish your puppy when he makes a house-breaking mistake. These are YOUR fault. Your puppy's age in weeks and his breed size determine how often he must go out. Once an hour is not too often for a large 6-week old puppy, especially if it is summertime. Dogs love the exciting smells outdoors, so there is no excuse to not have him housebroken by 7-8 weeks of age. Right after a nap, after he eats and after grooming are the key times, and he will signal you. If he is happily chewing a toy and gets up suddenly with his nose to the floor, move quickly! And every time he goes potty outside, praise him to high heaven! "What a good BOYY!", "GOOD go potty!" and the like. Dogs love our happy faces, and they will do anything to get it


3. Dogs live for our facial expressions and body language.

Because of this, the worst punishment you ever need to give your dog is a scowl and to turn away from him. You can see his tail fall down and his face get so sad. He will learn the lesson, I guarantee it. But his attention span is only 3-5 minutes, so do not scorn him any longer. Love him up and give him your happy face again. Physical punishment is never necessary. Use consistent commands and loving praise and he will know what you want of him before you know. He will become a master of your body language and facial expressions in no time at all.

Naturally there are many aspects of training your puppy well. Loving kindness works just as well for puppies as it does with children, creating a happy, well-adjusted and obedient dog for life. These three important tips, used consistently with confidence, will start him well on his way.

I'm feeling a little philosophical this week and I thought I would try to tackle an age-old question: Can money buy you happiness?

A recent Gallup World Poll would indicate that it can't — sort of. Gallup uses two major categories of happiness: overall life satisfaction; and more moment-to-moment enjoyment of life. When comparing happiness from one country to the next, Gallup found that richer nations and individuals tended to be more satisfied with life.

Where can I find financial counselling?Within that richer group we see some interesting things. The richest country on earth is the United States. But it isn't the happiest. It comes in 16th place. Two countries with much less money than the U.S. tied for first place: Denmark and New Zealand. Apparently, having your social and psychological needs met boost your overall happiness. It seems that Denmark and New Zealand are good at providing social support, allowing their citizens to make the most of their abilities and offer fulfilling employment.

Some economists believe that, on an individual level, money increases happiness at the low end of the pay scale. But once a person's basic needs are met, money doesn't do much to boost happiness.

So what does?

According to a new study from The Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC), those who have engaged in comprehensive, integrated financial planning are significantly more optimistic about their personal wellbeing as compared with those who have not.

On the surface, it seems logical that financial planning could help you achieve not just your goals, but peace of mind. But there has never been concrete, empirical evidence. Just how much does achieving life goals and managing through difficult times affect one's confidence? And, how is financial planning integral to one's financial and emotional wellbeing — in good economic times and in bad?

The study surveyed over 7,000 Canadians and divided them into three groups:

Those with comprehensive, integrated planning — in which one's main financial advisor has provided financial planning for major life goals and events, or at least three of the following components: household budgeting, tax, retirement, estate planning, investing, and debt or risk management.
Those with limited financial advice where an individual's main advisor provided advice or services for just one or two of the components I've already listed.
Those with no financial advice. This group includes people who describe themselves as "do-it-yourselfers" as well as people who don't do any financial planning whatsoever.
The results have been analyzed in a variety of income categories to eliminate net worth as an influence.

What did they find?

Individuals with financial plans feel better prepared to deal with difficult economic times. They have peace of mind. Let's see if we can connect the dots. According to the study, Canadians with financial plans are more optimistic about their well-being than those without a plan. The feel they are ready to deal with contingencies and economic upheavals. They are more confident that they will reach their life goals — not just their financial goals. Furthermore, there is measurable proof that people who have engaged their advisors only for "as-needed" advice are being left behind by Canadians with comprehensive integrated planning.

In essence, you can't "fool" your body by drinking something sweet but light; the body will demand real sweet stuff all the more until its desires are sated.

Under Fire
This isn't the first time people have taken shots at the Diet market. Saccharin, the first artificial sweetener (famous for its pink packets and presence in soft drink Tab), was dogged by cancer rumors from 1907 until the year 2000, when the U.S. government officially retracted a "flawed" 1970s study which suggested the sweetener caused cancerous tumors in lab rats. Its replacement on the market, Aspartame, fared little better; though legal from 1983 onwards, it has suffered constant criticism as a potential toxin. Even Sucralose, the latest and "safest" pseudo-sugar, is not immune-sure, it doesn't have any negative effects now, but give it a few years…

Meanwhile, what's the average person to do? Most simply shrug and use one of the above. But while the ingredients are generally recognized as safe by the FDA, it never hurts to have a backup, right?


The 'Tols
Xylitol and maltitol are widely used in sugarfree gums and candies around the world; both are highly sweet, with fewer calories and carbs than plain ol' sucrose.

Xylitol, a sugar alcohol naturally derived from the fiber of many fruits and vegetables, is about as sweet as table sugar but with a third less food energy. While a teaspoon of table sugar contains 15 calories, a teaspoon of xylitol only contains 9.6. In addition, it's carb-free. Bonuses include little to no aftertaste and its toothfree properties; the biggest downside is its mild laxative effect. Xylitol is present in many sugarless gums and is marketed under the brand name "The Ultimate Sweetener."

Another sugar alcohol, maltitol is obtained by hydrogenating maltose obtained from satarch; it contains about half as many calories per gram as sugar (2.1 vs. 4.0). Being extremely sweet, it needn't be mixed with other sweeteners, but it does not caramelize, which can make using it in some recipes difficult. It does not promote tooth decay.

Restraint
These and other sweeteners are a boon to diabetics or those suffering from obesity. But for the rest of us-is it even necessary to pick through these substitutes? Sugar is a treat. One the body craves often, yes, but not one the body needs all that much of. So instead of pounding those diet sodas for your sweetness-and-caffeine fix, consider some tea and a biscuit. Rather than baking cookies with Splenda each night, make them with real sugar once a week. Go ahead and eat the real thing; just do it sensibly, and you'll never have to worry about cancerous rat tumors while you're enjoying your sweets!

This is a guide for how to make a REAL money with "paid to click" sites, without paying them a thing. The only catch is you won't be making $50 per day right off the bat. You will be making a few cents when you first start. The name of the game is called PATIENCE & PERSEVERANCE. Now with this method I won't be investing any money to earn money. If you have money to invest, by all means do it and you will see result faster than mine.

The key to making money on onBux is through referrals. It's simple, If you don't have referrals, you won't make money. You can rent referrals directly from onBux. The referrals are real people and cost 25 cents a month each. Some will be active and some won't. To "recycle" a non-active referral for an active one you have to pay 8 cents. It may seem like a lot, but it's worth it. If you don't recycle inactive referrals, you will lose money.

When you reach 75 cents by clicking on your own (if you don't invest money) you can purchase your first 3 referrals, this is where most people go wrong. It takes a few days to earn the 75 cents on your own and people are so eager to buy referrals that they just purchase as soon as their account reaches $0.75 , when people do this they do not realize that they do not have enough money to maintain their rented referrals and their referrals eventually are taken away because they can't pay for them.

Before you rent referrals you should earn $2.5 by clicking on your ads and then transfer it to your rental balance. This way you have $1 per referral and you will easily be able to recycle them if they are not active or pay to keep them for one more month. It will take a while to get $2.5 on your own, but this way you will be able to keep your referrals and exchange the inactive ones for active ones without the fear that you will not be able to pay for them.

Autopay is another must. As soon as you rent your first 3 referrals turn autopay on. Referrals cost 25 cents a month to keep. Instead of you paying for the referrals, they pay for themselves as long as you have autopay turned on. What it does is, subtract one of the advertisements your referral views each day and puts it towards the 25 cents that referral needs to stick around for another month. So you get one less penny from each referral, but they will be your referral as long as they are active.

Keep doing this until the money builds up to about $100 and you can use $90 of it to pay for golden. $100 won't take very long at all to get once you have 300 referrals and once you upgrade to golden your earnings will DOUBLE. This is the great part. Golden costs $90 a year but instead of getting a cent for every advertisement your referral views, you get 1 cent. Your earnings double.

Keep renting new referrals after you upgrade to golden and don't cash out. Remember, you haven't cashed out at all, and you shouldn't until you have 2000 referrals. But when you do cash out, you will be able to cash out about $50 a day, and that's the end of the strategy.

Marketing Tips: The Internet Marketing Secret That Stops Small Business Owners In Their Tracks
All of my clients are exceptional at the service they provide for their clients. However, many of them come to me for coaching because they're having a hard time filling their practices and finding clients. Almost without fail, they tell me that this is a marketing problem. It is a marketing problem, but not the type they think it is.

When I ask them to describe their ideal client or target market, I'll get a very general and all-encompassing answer like, "Oh, I want to work with entrepreneurs who are kind, loyal, courteous, have a great sense of humor, financially stable, etc." -- you know, in essence, the Boy Scout motto that covers a very large percentage of the world population. That's a great beginning general descriptor about the type of client with whom they would like to work, but the description is, unfortunately, flawed.

Why?

Because it's simply not specific enough.

Oftentimes, I'll respond to their answer with, "I want you to open open up your local telephone directory and turn to the yellow pages listing with the heading 'Loyal Entrepreneur'." They are momentarily stumped, as, of course, no such listing exists in any phone directory I've ever seen.

Then we begin to work on the process of finding ideal clients in their target market by determining the demographic, industry, income, position, etc. I know without a doubt that the more specific they can be in their description, the easier their marketing becomes. So, I encourage my clients to identify as many specific characteristics as possible so that they can actually reach out and "touch" their ideal client -- they know where the clients hang out on- and off-line, what they read, what groups they belong to, what they do for fun, etc. The point of the exercise is for these business owners to determine where they can obtain names and contact info or lists of people who are real, living, breathing, members of their target market that they can call, email, invite to a meeting, or send a mailing.

Once my clients have gathered this very specific info on their target market, the next move is to articulate the top 5 challenges of this group. Since my clients continue to tell me that they have "marketing" problems, I have more specifically defined "marketing" into these specific challenges:

1. determining what business you're really in (i.e. you're not selling career coaching but instead are selling a proven system to help someone land a dream job)

2. defining and refining your target market with very specific descriptors

3. determining how to find the members of your target market

4. understanding your ping vs. your pie (the benefits of working with you as opposed to the features of the services you offer and what makes you unique and different enough that they should work with you instead of someone else)

5. determining how to creatively and inexpensively promote your business online to your target market

Does this sound like anyone that you know?

Take some quiet time and determine the top 5 challenges for your target market. If you don't know what these challenges are, ask members of your target market. Once you've articulated these challenges, focus your marketing efforts around these issues. You can address them in your web site, your elevator speech, your business card, the articles that you write, the talks that you give, the flyers and brochures you design, and in the conversations you have with prospective clients. Your target market needs to know you feel their pain and you've got the remedy that will help make that pain disappear.

(CNN) -- Say goodbye to those wimpy, eight-letter passwords.

The 12-character era of online security is upon us, according to a report published this week by the Georgia Institute of Technology.

The researchers used clusters of graphics cards to crack eight-character passwords in less than two hours.

But when the researchers applied that same processing power to 12-character passwords, they found it would take 17,134 years to make them snap.

"The length of your password in some cases can dictate the vulnerability," said Joshua Davis, a research scientist at the Georgia Tech Research Institute.

It's hard to say what will happen in the future, but for now, 12-character passwords should be the standard, said Richard Boyd, a senior research scientist who also worked on the project.

The researchers recommend 12-character passwords -- as opposed to those with 11 or, say, 13 characters -- because that number strikes a balance between "convenience and security."

They assumed a sophisticated hacker might be able to try 1 trillion password combinations per second. In that scenario, it takes 180 years to crack an 11-character password, but there's a big jump when you add just one more character -- 17,134 years.

Passwords have gotten longer over time, and security experts are already recommending that people use full sentences as passwords.

Here's one suggested password-sentence from Carnegie Mellon University:

"No, the capital of Wisconsin isn't Cheeseopolis!"

Or maybe something that's easier to remember, like this:

"I have two kids: Jack and Jill."

Even though advances in cheap computing power are making long, complicated passwords a necessity, not all websites will accommodate them, Boyd said.

It's best to use the longest and most complex password a site will allow, he said. For example, if a website will let you create a password with non-letter characters -- like "@y;}v%W$\5\" -- then you should do so.

There are only 26 letters in the English alphabet, but there are 95 letters and symbols on a standard keyboard. More characters means more permutations, and it soon becomes more difficult to for a computer to generate the correct password just by guessing.

Some websites allow for super-long passwords. The longest one Boyd has seen is at Fidelity.com, a financial site that lets users create 32-character passwords.

On a Microsoft website devoted to password security, the tech giant tells the password-creating public not to use real words or logical combinations of letters. That keeps you safer from a "dictionary attack," which uses a database of words and common character sequences to try to guess the code.

The Georgia Tech researchers carried out a "brute force" attack when they determined that passwords should be at least 12 characters long.

To do so, they deployed computer graphics cards, which are cheap and can be programmed to do basic computations very quickly.

The processors in those cards run simultaneously, trying to guess all of the possible password combinations. The more characters in a password, the more guesses are required.

But if your password has to be really long in order to keep up with this computational power -- and if you're supposed to have a new password for each website you frequent -- then how are you supposed to remember everything?

That's a real problem, the Georgia Tech researchers said.

There are a few solutions, however.

A website called Password Safe will store a list of passwords for you, but Boyd and Davis said it may still be possible for a hacker to obtain that list.

Other companies sell tokens that people carry around with them. These keychain-sized devices generate random numbers several times a minute, and users must enter those numbers and a shorter password to log in.

Some sites -- Facebook for example -- are marketing their log-ins and user names as a way to access sites all over the Web.

That's good for the user but is potentially dangerous because if hackers figure out a single password, they can access multiple banks of information, the researchers said.

The reason passwords have to keep getting longer is that computers and graphics cards are getting faster, the Georgia Tech researchers said.

"These things are really inexpensive -- just a few hundred dollars -- and they have a performance that's comparable to supercomputers of only just a few years ago," Boyd said of fast-processing graphics cards.

Maybe our brains will have to get bigger and faster, too. We'll need some way to remember these tome-like character strings.

Caroline27 I don't get it. If the site asking for a password only allows for a few chances to get it right how can it be cracked? Also shouldn't companies look at the IP address. If it is unfamiliar then start asking personal question about the applicant to make sure it is actually the correct person.

Also a lot of time it's not the key length, but weaknesses in the cipher which can help things along.

Unless you plan on using an OTP for everything, which is a nightmare to manage, there is always going to be a way. less

My wife and I have been secretly buying and selling "tax liens" for years, and have quietly made a fat fortune! - And hardly anyone knew what we were doing (Ha!)

This little "secret" was a blast, and we felt like we were the only ones in on the joke!

In case you don't know exactly what a "tax lien" is, it's this:

Sometimes a home owner loses their home because they failed to pay the Government taxes owned on that property - and the local county government puts a lien on the home (called a "tax lien") and usually gives them a period of time in which to make good.



This "grace period" however comes with some conditions:

1.Since the taxes are needed right away, someone has to come out of pocket. In this case, someone such as "you" gets the opportunity to pay the outstanding taxes (often just a few $100's to seldom more than a few $1,000!)


2.But why would "you" (a total stranger) pay someone else's taxes? Simple: The county government has set up a "rewards program" that gives you a "profit motive" to do so!


3.This Program usually has 2 ways for "you" to win!

(a) The first works like this: You pay the taxes for the homeowner now, and they pay you back within such-n-such time with some extra "interest" on top of what you paid (this way "you" sort of become their bank, and get paid back what you paid plus interest!)
(b) The second way you get rewarded is in the event the homeowner fails altogether to ever pay you back, and "you" suddenly find yourself owning the home free-and-clear (for that same small amount you paid in taxes owed!)

We then turned around and sold this same house to a bank for $95,000 - which means subtracting our $255 tax lien purchase cost, we made a fat $94,745.

The entire process included just these few things:

•We shopped at the County Tax Assessor's Office from our home using the Web! (No crap! We simply "pointed-n-clicked" and grabbed this little property! - Ha!) It took maybe less than 10 minutes to pick this one out!


•We then even paid for the tax lien only using the "Bid Option" made available to us! (Similar to how eBay works!)
