Making a post on craig list
The trick to this success was to create a post that would stand out from the rest. I dont know how many of you have posted on Craigslist but 99% of the ads are just plain, type text and insert images
It has to be made in HTML because if you just post a large image and link it to your website, it will take too long for the image to download and the viewer will leave before even looking at the image
Now unless you are pretty familiar with HTML, you will not be able to create an ad like this right away but if you follow all of the tutorials I will be writing, you too will be able to create an awesome Craigslist post like that.

Step One
The first thing you need to do though is open an account where you can host the images you will be using like flickr or your own website.
Once your images are uploaded, get the url of each image, for example, the image I have placed in this article is located at this url: http://blindmonkeymedia.com/ap/BMM_banner_animated_125x125.gif
Now that you have the images loaded and ready to go, here is what you do:
For an image to show up, here are the html tag

This past weekm I was hired to create an html based ad post on Craigslist for a client and as it was my first time working HTML on Craigslist, I put up an HTML based ad in the Service Section to advertise my Costa Rica Website Design service as a test run.
Let me tell you that the results where much better than expected with 6 real incquiries and 3 of them turning into clients.

putting this tag in the area where you type in your ad on craigslist will show that image.
Linking an Image or Text
if you wanted to link that image to a website, you would insert this tag before the image tag
and this tag after the image tag
So it would look like this:
so the end product would look like this:
you can use those same tags to link text as well like this:
to get this: text you want to link
Aligning the Image
now if you wanted to make to place the image to the left and the text aligned with it you would ad this tag in the image tag, align="left" and to align to the right it would just be adding align="right"

So now that you know how to do it, start practicing. We are still a few lessons away from you being able to duplicate the ad I posted on Craigslist but when I am done with all of the tutorials, you will be able to do it and from there, it will just be a matter of picking up the phone and answering emails!
*I apologize that you can't copy and paste the tags but because of formating, I had to use images to show the tags to use.
In the next craigslist tutorial, we will talk about the table tags to postion all elements you want insert in the craigslist ad with more accuracy.
