How To Open All Your Favourite Sites In One Click
September 8, 2010

You can create a simple icon to click on either your desktop or taskbar to automatically open however many of your favourite sites you want all at once.

This can be done on any Windows OS.

To do this:

1. Open up ‘Notepad’.

2. Type the following into Notepad:notepad

start chrome.exe

(for Internet Explorer type start iexplore.exe)

(for Firefox type start firefox.exe).

3. Enter your favourite websites inside speech marks, separated by a space:

start chrome.exe “www.google.com” “www.facebook.com” “www.twitter.com”

(You can enter as many as you want).

4. Click on ‘File’, Click on ‘Save As..’. Where it save ‘Save as type’ use the dropdown list to make sure it says ‘All Files’.

Name your file favesites.bat

The important bit is to have the ‘.bat’ at the end – you can change the ‘favesites’ part to whatever you want.

Save your file wherever you want.

5. Now everytime you click on the file you’ve just created, all your favourite sites will load up at once!

Put It On Your Taskbar, Add An Icon

If you want to be able to drag this favesites.bat file onto your taskbar, you’ll need to convert it into an ‘.exe’ file. To do this:

1. Download ‘Batch To Exe Converter 1.5’notepad5

2. When you’ve downloaded it, extract the files and install it

3. Click the three dots ‘…’ on the right of ‘Batch File’ and select your batch file wherever you stored it

4. Choose where you want it to be saved and called e.g. ‘favesites.exe’

5. Click ‘Compile’

6. That’s it! You’ve now got an ‘.exe’ file. Right click the ‘.exe’ file, and either send it to your desktop, or put a shortcut elsewhere. (You can also do this by holding down ‘Alt’ and dragging the file to create a shortcut).

7. With this shortcut you can now either drag it to your taskbar, or even add an icon to it.
