Top ten quotes on Happiness

fter my last sick post ”Quotes on Success” it’s time for “Quotes about Happiness”. Have you ever set up goals or missions thinking “Oh, if I could just make that happen it would totally blow my mind”? And with a lot of action and persistence you suddenly accomplished your mission. But when you made it you didn’t get the exact strong feeling you expected to feel. You just weren’t happy. You asked yourself “Is this all there is?”

You achieved what you wanted but you were not fulfilled. People can succeed in their career while failing on the experience of life. If you’re not happy about anything, not even Facebook, it’s sad to say that you’ll never become happy about anything on earth in the future.

Let’s compare two people to illustrate happiness. One of them becomes paralyzed up to his neck and the other one wins 5 million dollars from the lottery. Which of them are most happy at that moment? You’re right. But after 12 months the millionaire worries about not losing his money and the paralyzed man will experience much more love and care from his friends and family and he actually begin to get used to not having functional legs. That’s what’s so fantastic about being a human, we get used to things. “Everything is relative” some say.

I think there are two kinds of happy feelings:

1.) Joy which is a product of situations and circumstances that influence your emotions. Example: You get a new car or social recognition (one person laughs at your Chuck Norris joke).

2.) A basic and deep satisfaction about life. You’re grateful just to be allowed to stay on this earth wherever you are and focus on the positive outcome of every situation.

But don’t believe that there are people who never have a sad moment. We all have problems and problems will come, but let’s replace the word “problem” with the exciting word “challenges”. Cause problems are what cause us to grow. When I look back in time trying to find scenarios that made me grow most, I see the events that I experienced as the hardest times.

Happiness is a decision, so stand up like a leader of your life and make that decision. You can feel it right now! Try this:

Breath the way you breath when you’re happy… stand or sit like you’re happy.. …put on a smile…speak with the same vocal power and tonality as when you’re happy and say this loud with your whole body: “I’m happy!”. How do you feel now?

When you express your whole physiology like this, the brain knows that you should be happy (even though your smile is false!) and happy hormones will flow through your body.

I’m not trying to take away all your motivation. Of course you can get a lot of cool stuff, become successful and still be happy, but remember to enjoy the process. Make it a playful process. Everyday think of SOMETHING to be happy about, even the smallest things. Maybe you have the pleasure to walk every day. Or the more bigger stuff, that Fredosopher exists for instance.

Now, finally… specially selected quotes about happiness down this page…
